EBONY WASHINGTON

About Me

Ebony Washington is a writer and filmmaker born and raised in Port Chester, New York. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Film and Television Production from Sacred Heart University. While studying at SUNY Purchase’s School of Film and Media Studies, she worked as production staff on The Maury Povich show and Orange is the New Black.


She relocated to Los Angeles in 2019 and served as Executive Assistant to Grey’s Anatomy showrunner, Krista Vernoff.  In addition, she worked in the writers’ room as an assistant to the show for 3 seasons. She was selected as one of three writers for the 2024 Warner Brothers Discovery Access Writers Program.


Ebony writes one-hour dramedies set in exciting arenas about strong women finding themselves in a world that tries so dang hard to define who they are. She wrote and directed several short films and is now editing and co-producing her first documentary. She is also a 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo and a green belt in Krav Maga. She enjoys drawing and painting in her free time.
