EBONY WASHINGTON
About Me
Ebony Washington is a writer and filmmaker with a sharp pen, a black belt, and a taste for stories that bite back. Born and raised in Port Chester, New York, she earned her MFA in Film and Television Production from Sacred Heart University, and cut her teeth at SUNY Purchase where she hustled behind the scenes on The Maury Povich Show and Orange is the New Black.
Ebony went on to serve as Executive Assistant to Grey’s Anatomy showrunner Krista Vernoff before becoming the show’s Writers’ Assistant for four juicy, high-stakes seasons. In 2024, she was chosen as one of just three writers for the prestigious Warner Bros. Discovery Access Writers Program.
Her writing lives where workplace ambition, family drama, and a splash of soap collide — one-hour dramedies set in bold, high-pressure worlds where complex women push back against the boxes society tries to stuff them in. With an occasional twist of genre, she’s drawn to dynamic arenas and emotionally charged relationships, crafting stories that are sharp, heartfelt, and just messy enough to feel real.
A 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo and a green belt in Krav Maga, Ebony knows how to throw a punch — on screen and off. She’s also a self-taught visual artist who draws and paints in her spare time.
She is repped by Stagecoach Entertainment.
